Miller wrote:That's right folks, we're very happy to announce the first ever national Airsofters.co.uk weekender! It's been something we've thought of for a while now but finally enough pieces have fallen in to place for us to push forward. I'm sure you want to hear the details though so read on!
When? August 2008. The game will start on saturday morning and end on sunday evening. Camping will be available from friday night so if you're travelling from afar you don't need to worry about somewhere to stay. The actual date will be announced very shortly, it'll either be the 23-24th of August or the 30-31st.
Where? We have access to a 37,000 acre site in Kent. How much of that land is used will depend on the numbers coming but rest assured - this is going to be one big area! For the moment budget for simply travelling to Kent, once the final playing areas are confirmed we'll be able to give you a more specific location. For people travelling to the area by train, plane or other public transport there'll be convoys on hand to get you to the site. Depending on where you need to get to the site from there'll be a small cost to help cover fuel. Either way, if you're going to need extra transport then just make sure you've explained so before you turn up.
Important bits and cool stuff! Site limits for weapons will be 328fps +/- 5% for AEGs and 500fps +/- 5% for bolt action guns. Anyone sniping must carry either a secondary weapon or a sidearm as there will be a 20m minimum engagement rule for these players. Vehicles!! There'll be several army trucks in use for the game, including a USA M35A1 and a Bedford MK. On top of those there'll also be Landrovers fitted out with guns for teams to use as they see fit. Any pyros are okay to use on this site, provided they are produced commercially for airsoft by companies with independent insurance - such as TLSFX, Spectrum and Enola Gaye. The cost for the weekend, including gaming, camping and saturday's breakfast will be around £100 but this will be confirmed shortly.
Details on registration will also be provided soon.
There's no use trying to type everything in one go so if you have ANY questions or input then fire away! We can't stress enough that this game is for you. If you have input and ideas then post them up and let us know but please do so in the next couple of months as obviously there's a lot of organising to do here!
Read it and Believe it!

well, if I do end up with a support gun (P90 with box mag is pretty much a support gun anyway) I'll sit on top or lean out the back with it and let rip

I am so up for this new Kent site, mainly because on its first day EVERYONE is new...no pre-planning, or hanging round the best areas.
It will be the best ever Airsoft event the Uk has ever seen!

I reckon we should start to plan for this right away. If we make definate decisions 'now', we can work towards it and plan ahead. I know it's a long way off and anything can happen between now and then, but if we leave it and leave it, before you know it the time will be upon us and we won't have anything sorted. Then we'll be chasing our tails, as well as each other, to get things arranged in time.
To start with, Hawk, can you provide a link to the event thread on the Airsofters site so people on here can keep up to date with news?
We will also need a codename for the event, something like Operation Kent Weekender or something.
We'll also need a team name as, apparently, there's already an airsoft SG5 team, something like SG5 Alpha or SG5 Marine. And Lia, SG5 Mad Ba****ds is not an option.
And let's get a hold of Vern and his P90. You never know....

SG5 Sempa Fi?
Okay if we're going to be doing this, we need to do this properly. That means we need to start planning and saving now. Most of us have some basic kit for the team already, but then again some members have Cheapest stuff.
First off we need to agree on the Uniform, this means we are a team and we can be recognized as one.... I don't mind having Nikkin on the team, he was a pretty good and willing piece of Cannon fodder (No Pun Nikkin) willing to charge and get into the middle of a firefight. Liability....... Get yourself a bloody working AEG and working on your attitude, Your a MAN You're a US Marine, Not a Mouse, Not a US Army solider Your suppose to laugh in the face of Hail of Gunfire, Not ducking behind everyone…..
Okay we need to agree on the Kit
As most of us have MARPAT I feel that is what we should go with, I know some people are using DPM but we need to be as one.
Also we need to have a some what similar weapons layout, No AK’s I’m afraid , we’ll all have to go with a NATO layout.
M-16, M4, M14, MP5 or P-90

What the hell is Sempa Fi? It sounds like a frat house.
I'm good with the marpat for the uniform. I know you, me and Lia have it but what about you Nik?
I like the idea of NATO only weaponry. I'll be kitting myself out with a new AEG for the event, just not sure which one yet. After all, that G-36 was pretty naff.
How about we also have our own little website on one of those free-host sites? Just a thought.

That's ok dude. While everyone is shooting at you, it'll give the rest of us a chance to flank them and blow the living snot out of them.

*Cough* Christmas Wishlist *Cough*
http://www.flecktarn.co.uk/productsus.html#clothes
Maybe £42.50 quid if you go with the same load out.....
Or 25 quid if ordered from HK
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USMC-Digital-Wood ... dZViewItem
You don't need them now, because this game is next year but you could start saving now and buy one for next year.
What about your friends nikkin? Are they member of a team? Or do you all just turn up and play like how you feel....
