SG4 Russian Airsoft Team

Postby Clone_Ranger on Mon Feb 11, 2008 2:46 pm

Hello there,

I am hoping to create an impression of the Russian Stargate team for a airsoft event - but am finding it hard to find reference material on which to base my gear.

I believe the Russian Stargate team appeared in an episode called 'the Tomb' - which I sadly missed.

Can anyone please describe to me, or even better supply reference pictures of the Russian team and their uniforms and kit?

Many thanks in advance,

Steve

:) Hey there! - Always nice to meet another airsofter!

Thank you very much for the offer, much appreciated. Look forward to it - hopefully once I have the reference I can track down the gear to make up a loadout.

I guess the badges may be the hardest thing. But no pain no gain!

Thanks again,

Badges are the most easy thing I can give you, I have a link to the ebayer I buy mine from, he got the Russian ones last time I checked

Right The Proper Russian team is also in Episode METAMORPHOSIS, they have an SG4 patch on their Right arm and a SG Earth project patch on the left, The Russian Symbol is on a Black beret and the Uniform pattern I believe is the Russian schofield patten

Choice of Weapons is your but three examples are seen in the images I have for you
I have the images I ripped off from my DVD, not the best but they give you the idea

Thank you so much - this is absolutely spot on, and everything I need.

As you say, the camo is 'Schofield' - which dates it, so a good reason for using a substitute can be made (the Russian Army has moved on, especially the Spetsnaz forces). A nice one to perhaps use as a modernized substitute might be a Flecktar-D (for woodland planets), or 'Shadow' for urban expeditions.

The badge link was priceless, and the images were excellent - I recognize all the equipment...

On a critical note - once again the American TV show makers just DO NOT know how a beret is worn (especially the Russian type)! ;)

...But I will rectify that. LOL

And luckily, I already own all the weaponry shown. So what I'll do, is as soon as I have everything sourced I will get some photos taken and post them back here (if that's OK?).

I can't thank you enough - especially as your answer was so quick. I'm very happy!

Nice one Hawkeye!

I certainly will stay around - it's a fascinating forum. :)

No Problem,

I've been meaning to try and increase our SG airsoft teams here in the UK, and making friends are the best way. It will also be nice to see an increase in the range of style of teams shown. All too latey I seen Slighlty overway 40 year olds Sporting OD greens SG1 uniforms. So totally disturbing that it makes my skin crawl  . I believe that SG1 shoudn't be touched....

Are you sourcing the uniform just for yourself? or do you have several friends who your playing with?
And why did you Chose the russians for your team?

I chose SG5 because it was primely a USMC team and the Marpat uniform was one of the eaisest to find these days, Plus it also helps to have two firends in the US Military service USMC and USN

LOL - I'm afraid I'm a slightly overweight 46 year old who sports Russian (and OPFOR - 'Opposing Force') uniforms!

I'm sourcing the uniform myself, there are several good Soviet/Russian kit retailers to be found - like Rusmilitary.com and Redsoldier.net. I already have a very modest collection of uniforms, but the Stargate theme would demand something a little more unique.

As it happens, I'm already part of a Russian themed airsoft team called 'Team AKA', and so it was a sort of natural thing to want to combine my interest in Russian military things and my enthusiasm for 'Stargate'.

Image

The site I usually go to - South Yorkshire Airsoft - runs monthly themed games, mostly based on films, TV series or computer games. For example we recently ran a very successful 'Resident Evil' themed event.

Doing a 'SG4' airsoft impression will hopefully get some interest in running such an event in the future - and I am sure there are lots of my 'US' uniformed buddies that fancy themselves as 'Jack Oneills' ;)

I should have my loadout complete next month, so I will take some photos.

Hey I don't mind middle aged men playing SG Airsoft, it's when they think their O'Neill or Members of SG1 which I find Heresy.... There is no problem with chosing another SG team there over 25 teams currently not including SGX or Atlantis teams :blasting:

Actually - Hawkeye...

May I ask another favour?

I looked at the badges pages on eBay that you kindly supplied a link to - and aside from the SG4 and the (obvious) Russian cap badge I'm unsure what other badge I need.

I couldn't ask you to pick out teh appropriate badges for me so I can order tham could I?

I appreciate you help.

LMAO - you are right, what an idiot - I totally missed those links!

Anyway - thanks, I'll get these ordered.

The Russian army uses name tags, the picture bellow shows our team badges - which are generally the Russian Army style:-

Clone_Ranger, welcome to the whacky world of Astrogate Airsoft. I see you already met our resident Airsoft lunatic *winks at Hawk*.
Dude, if you've already got a Dragonov, I'd love to see it and maybe try it out. I've been fancying a sniper rifle for a while and have been looking at Dragonovs and L96s, though the Dragonov doesn't really fit in with the SG5 theme we've used previously.
Yeah, welcome aboard dude. We can't have too many Airsofters here on Astro.
BTW Hawkster, I'm going to my local Airsoft club next week. First And Only Airsoft are having an open day at their urban site next Sunday (the 24th). I'll let you know how it goes.

Cheers guys...

always nice to meet other airsoft nuts...

Funnily enough, after talking to Hawkeye n this forum I mentioned in passing about my idea to make up a Russian SG4 loadout on the forum of the site I got to (SYA)...
I was taken by surprise by the amount of replies I got - some favourable and some not so favourable (these seem to be from 'Star Wars' fans!)

In any event, let me know about your adventures airsofting - I a always interested to hear about this sort of stuff.

:)

All teh best,

Ranger
