Spoof E-mailsIs anyone here getting any spoof e-mails of late? Because I keep getting e-mails sent to me requiring me to log on to my E-bay account via a link. It keeps annoying me that these e-mails keep comming, I know there fake, because I checked with E-bay. I really getting pissed these guys know I have an Ebay account as so forth... So does anyone else have problems with their accounts getting Spoof e-mails
ebay ive not had problems with, its paypal emails that keep annoying me asking me to check in. so annoying!!
for some reason i also keep getting spoof mails about my lloyds tsb bank online bank account details. im not even with lloyds tsb!! ![]() Chaos claims the wary or the incomplete. A true man may flinch away its embrace, if he is stalwart, and he girds his soul with the armour of contempt.
i do, everytime, the lloyds ones have stopped since. on thing i have notcied is the lloyds on i got didnt even have my email address, it was something remotely similar, very weird.
i also keep getting an email of poor Mrs Kumagara, whose husband, being the financial director of a large multi-national company, has died and she wants my help to transfer £10 million to another account by using mine as a go between. i will get £500,000 for ym trouble and all she needs are my bank details, quite a good deal i thought some of them are just so full of it ![]() Chaos claims the wary or the incomplete. ive had them too. i must admit the first one i got i had only had the net for about a week and i was like

yeah you say how dumb do they thnk we are, but i am always getting emails off friends with subjects like "msn are closing down 90% of its hotmail accounts please forward this to ten friends to let us know you account is still active" worst thing is these idiot friends of mine actualy forward these things on!!!! Its so frustrating!
i hate them ones, they do my head in!! all my friends know not to send my ANY emails with FWD in the subject line or they get a good beating. my missus is the worst, she kees doing it. took me a while to convince her they are not closing her email.

I had two spoof ebay emails yesterday and reported them. They were pretty sneaky too... the email itself does look 100% legit (i think its an exact copy... apart from the URLs). But when you click on the links it goes elsewhere and you're presented with a copy of the ebay login page. The emails are about ebay's autumn deals. And the various URLs have autumn and/or ebay in the domain name. They're also sent with the usual false spam names as the sender. The best one i've seen in a while though... as it isn't actually asking you for your account details due to a problem ect:. And i was almost fooled. If they'd done a complete replica of ebay instead of having the login page as the home/index page it would've maybe been realistic enough for me to login (although i'd still have probably gone to ebay .co.uk so i could use netscapes passcards and not bother finding my password. And that just good internet practice
Anyway i rarely get spam on my stargater.co.uk address.. just on the hotmail. It's the advantage of having the control to filter your mail exactly how you want it
i never trust anything 'redirecting' me so i can enter my password. i just go to the proper site like you Vern.
the first legit looking ones can be very foolsome. ![]() Chaos claims the wary or the incomplete. A true man may flinch away its embrace, if he is stalwart, and he girds his soul with the armour of contempt.
I just ignore emails even if they claim to be ebay or bank afterall if it was a sign in problem they'd sort it out without my help?
I have heard of loadsa phone scams where people say hi its your bank HSBC here and you confirm your mothers maiden name and address and they write it down. They target you for a 'lift' where they nick your wallet as with the info you've provided they know where you live, so they drain your account. ![]()
seems very popular at the minute, i got hit with 26 of them over 3 email accounts in 24 hours
