He told fans during the collectormania manchester convention, that [spoiler]Carson disappears in the latter half of season 3 (but doesn't die) and Paul looses his role as a main character on the show, but will be returning in the future to appear on episodes. He said "no-one ever stays dead in the stargate world".[/spoiler]

A new actor called Michael Beach (formerly ER) might be joining the cast as David Hewlett told the fans at Creation Con.

Now it's official Micheal Beach has been cast for the upcoming season finale "First Strike"(320) and a potential recurring role in season 4.

He will play Colonel Abe Ellis the commander of the Apollo, Earth's newest battle cruiser. In "First Strike," Ellis and the ship arrive from Earth with a plan to attack the Replicators on the Asuran homeworld as a preemptive strike.[/spoiler]

They are trying to chance the supporting cast slowly and trying to keep things interresting by doing so. Which worked on Andromeda and Farscape... Although so characters don't work so good (for example Ronan)...

yes it worked great on farscape (how did we get back on that again muhuahhahaha) and so far its working great on Atlantis, just kill ronan and well be done and dusted more cadwell would be good to

Why kill Ronan? I think we saw a new side of him in this week's ep when Teyla was ill. Just get rid of Beckett and be done with it. Next to Ford he's the most aggravaiting character on there (apart from that guy with the ponytail and glasses that was always complaining in the first season. But he's gone now anyway).

I don't think Beckett has anything left to contribute anymore. All this 'I don't like using Ancient tech' is old now, his attempts at being authorative by calling people 'Son' is just laughable and no-one listens to him anyway. Better to just get rid before the character becomes embarrassing in my opinion.

cant believe u dont like becket, i think hes great, hes a breath of fresh air on an episode. Him and Zelenka are great characters that we see ocfcsionaly popping up, get rid of ronan i say, kill him off in some amusing fashion like Mckay playing with something that zaps him hahahha now that would be funny.

I go for becket over ronan, ronan is just the alien muscle of the team, he is cool, but becket is just cool, I could understand him not getting a face credit, but not just get ri of him, keep him like zelenka
