Welcome to this week SGU post episode talk of the show Stargate Universe, please be aware that if you haven’t watched this episode yet, that the following posts below may contain Major Plot Spoilers which might ruin it for you. Don’t say that we didn’t warn you….
I thought it was a good way to wrap up the episode, although (and this could be because I have managed to catch freshers' flu again:( and therefore drifted to sleep at one point so I'll need to re-watch it ) I did feel it jumped a bit at times, making the plot a little hard to follow, and they could have shown a bit more detail on the attempt to contact/rescue the guys that went through the gate.
However I am still hopeful for the show, and I'm growing the like the characters. I'll definitely stick with it for now
I liked the episode. I skipped a little bit which can be a bad sign but I also get that happy feeling that I just watched a new episode of stargate which I really missed and didnt get when watching the films or anything past season 8 so I too will stick with it. The stargate guys are really good at listening to their fans too so its only going to get better and better
jack (to daniel): saftey off, point and shoot... not at me | *pss* | sam: i can fix that
An interesting episode we had, overall it feels like a different format and I believe that this will work for this show. SG1 had a bottle style where it was all involved in one episode from start to finish.
Communication stones – Wow if Atlantis had these at the beginning of their show it would have been a whole different ballgame, it does give the ship and it crew the ability to call home. But thankfully doesn’t allow them to simply dial home.
Sun burns… remember that…. Will they still be there in next weeks show?
Overall you have to wonder what will happen to the team left behind, it a sense it serves the team right for not following orders. Will they return? Will they be accepted by their team mates back into the team after what they did.
Music…. Wow this is something I could begin to love seeing in Stargate, the movie had a brilliant sound track and that was improved in SG1. It has a certain feel of Battlestar Galactic with some of the music played. But then again the sound track at the end where the air scrubbers came online was a very nice feel and very different to past shows. I feel that this idea should be kept in future shows and I hope to see them repeat it with other music songs.
One thing that I want to bring up is what the frack? was that Drone attached to the destiny hull that flew away at the end of the episode?
Really, CO2 scrubbers on an ancient star ship! This has got to be a joke!
Throughout SG1 and SGA we have ships with advanced technology, anti-gravity, inertial dampers and life-support. We never questioned how all this technology worked, it was "advanced" so we just accepted it as part of the fun.
Now, all of a sudden, on the most advanced "ancient" ship ever we need 19th century chemical CO2 scrubbers! Come on, where did the science guys go?
No doubt the few pounds of lime they acquired will keep the scrubbers working for the rest of the series so, thank goodness, we will never have to hear about them again!
Jack: "Do we or do we not have a Zanex detector"? Jack: "General, if it wasn't for SG1 you would be sitting there with a snake in your head instead of your head up your ass"! Indeed!
Have you been following the Story line? The Destiny is FAR older then Atlantis..... She was part of an older project to explore space, The Pegasus Galaxay stargate where seeded by the same ship as the one that seeded these new stargates.

OK I can't argue with that but "life support" should include elimination of CO2... The amount of lime they acquired should last at least, mmm, 24 hours!
Probably my remarks are being coloured by my overall dissatisfaction of the first 3 episodes as I have just finished watching the last year of SGA on video which I rate as my personal favourite show along with the 10 years of SG1 plus (sadly missed, dare I mention here?) the entire Firefly series and Serenity.
P.S. Nice thread Hawkeye!!

Perhaps the ships recycling system is very efficent and only requires a small amount in it system, compared to the current technology of Earth would require. We never saw how other alien lift surpport system worked and sadly we don't have an Asgard replicating machine on board....
What i'm curious about is its power supply. What is it? I mean Atlantis had 3 zpm's and they eventually give up after keeping a sheild for x amount of years. Destiny has been powering engines and whatever else for a lot longer. Does it have its own mini black hole on board?
