Daniel Jackson is left stranded on a planet at war, and unable to contact the SGC. After first contact from Earth, a group of rebels have seized the nation in control of the gate. Believing that the gods they worship who are in fact the Goa'uld, are benevolent. Once the stargate was under threat, another country took this as an act of war and initiated missile strikes. Colonel Carter finally manages to contact Daniel, and they plan a joint attack to regain the gate. When the rebel leader turns on another challenging his decisions, the others refuse to follow him and the gate is retaken. This culture in this episode is much like Earth during World War 2. With a wide variation in weapons used, from WW2 rifles to AK-47s. There is some nicely done visuals of the ruined city, and bombings. And the episode is similar in theme to the previous eps involving Kalowna and season 4s "The Other Side". Overall this episode has some great action, alongside the mainly political storyline.
Avatar
The SGC has developed a simulator, based on the chair from "The Gamekeeper" of a drone warrior attacking the SGC. Teal'c is recruited to help develop it, and gets trapped inside when the chair learns from his belief that the Goa'uld can't be defeated. With the simulation looping and refusing to exit, Daniel goes inside and helps defeat the game. The episode is non-stop action and uses First Person Shooter style graphics to depict the game when viewed from the outside world. And the storyline is good enough to keep you watching, even though the ep is based solely in the SGC.
Affinity
In this episode Teal'c moves off-base and get's his own apartment. He quickly makes friends in the neighbourhood using his cover as originating from Mozambique. But he soon becomes a bit of a vigilante to save those in need, and the incidents don't go un-noticed. Teal'c is taken into custody for murder, and Daniel is bribed with evidence to prove his innocence. This episode has some excellent funny moments, such as hitting a thief on the head with a vegetable. It's all Earth based, and there's little action, but it's a good character focused story.
Covenant
The CEO and President of a firm called Colson Industries attempts reveal the truth about the existence of alien life. He brings a live Asgard out to show to the world at a press conference. And it's up to the SGC to discredit him. But when that doesn't work they decide to let him in on the secret, and hope that he'll realise it's one worth keeping. A ride in the X-302 tries to persuade him, but the Trust's plan to silence him makes that task easier. This episode is part of the Asgard cloning storyline, and it isn't long before Thor shows up. It's also interesting in that it deals with alien conspiracy theories, and the possibility of them being true.
