The planet Nasya is under Goa'uld attack, and SG-1 is leading
a rescue mission. During the rescue, Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) is taken
as a host by a Goa'uld.
The teams return to Earth and it is only when young Cassy
(Katie Stuart) receives a frightening visit from Carter, that she senses the
Goa'uld, due to the Naquada left in her blood. (See "Singularity")
Cassandra informs Janet (Teryl Rothery) and O'Neill (Richard D
Anderson) and Carter is confined to a cell, while O'Neill searches for a way to
rid her of the parasite.
The Goa'uld reveals itself to be Jolinar Of Malkshur, a Tok'ra
- a member of an alliance against the Goa'uld System Lords - who is running from
an Ash'rak - a Goa'uld Assassin - who has followed them to Earth posing as a
The Ash'rak (Peter La Croix) finds Jolinar and attempts to
kill her, seriously injuring Carter in the process. O'Neill discovers that the

down to find several guards exiting…and SG-1's second-in-command…lying on
the floor. Teal'C sends for a medical team and they rush Carter in to an
The Ash'rak, who is dressed as a guard, makes it to the Gate
Room, just as the Stargate is being dis-activated. He grabs Daniel (Michael
Shanks) and aims a gun at his head, and Teal'C shoots them both with a "zat
gun." Daniel falls to the floor and Teal'C shoots the Ash'rak again,
Jolinar is too weak to heal both herself and her host, so she
gives her own life to save Sam's. Later on, a depressed and unresponsive Carter
is lying in the infirmary. Daniel enters, putting some flowers on the table, but
she just continues to stare in to space, not moving a muscle.
He goes back out in to the corridor where Doctor Fraiser,
Colonel O'Neill and Cassandra are waiting and explains to Cassandra that the
Goa'uld in Sam died and she is just sad.
Cassandra enters and climbs up on to Sam's bed, rolling her
over and managing to get a sad smile from her friend.
